PS4 Snowy Screen? Here’s how to fix it.

PS4 Fan not working; Here's how to fix it!

Most PlayStation gamers are still using their PS4 consoles, which are regrettably not perfect and have their own issues that need to be resolved.

Many gamers have not yet made the switch to the PS5 console.  Although PS4 proved to be the most fantastic game console ever made, there are still numerous bugs, screen issues, and overheating problems that are haunting it and need to be resolved!

With that said, one of the common issues that many gamers have reported is a flashing white screen or as the gamers call it, a snowy screen!

Have you ever encountered this issue? If yes, continue reading so we can tell you all about the PS4 snowy screen and how to fix it!

What is a PS4 snowy screen?

A flashing white light may show up on your PS4’s power indicator! This may signal an issue with your console’s operating system.

This may indicate a real problem, however, there’s no need to panic! You just need to stop using your PS4 and see how to fix it.

The top of the Playstation 4 and the upper half of its face are covered by a power light indicator. It functions as your Playstation’s power indicator as well as a notification or status indicator.

Your game console will initially turn on with a glowing white light that gradually changes to a static blue light once it has successfully booted.

On your PS4’s power indicator, there is a specific behavior that you should watch out for.

Solution #1: restart your PS4’s power

Power cycling your Playstation should be your first line of defense if it won’t boot up properly.

The white light on your PS4 may be flashing as a result of a system error that it encountered during initialization. Find your console’s power cable and unplug it from the wall outlet to restart it.

After that, give the device a few seconds to a minute before connecting the power cable again.

Once finished, turn on your Playstation 4 and check to see if the main screen will continue to load.

Solution #2: take a look at your HDMI cable/port.

A bad HDMI cable or port is another cause of the snowy screen on your PS4. Your Playstation won’t start up and the flashing snowy screen will appear if it can’t detect a display device.

Make sure your HDMI cable’s ports are clean and free of debris as well as any bent or missing pins. Additionally, you should check your existing HDMI cable for frayed or exposed wires.

On the other hand, you can connect the HDMI cable from your PS4 to another device and see if your TV will recognize it. Replace your HDMI cable right away if any other devices have stopped working as well.

Solution #3: Try to re-install the system on your PS4

You can also restart your PS4 in Safe Mode to perform a reset. You can try reinstalling the operating system on the PS4 to fix the issue since a flashing white light on the console indicates an operating system problem.

Before doing this, be aware that once you reinstall the system software on your PS4, your game progress will be lost.

Here’s how to reinstall the software on your PS4 if you have no issues with that:

  • Make sure your PlayStation is turned off completely first.
  • Then, hold down the Power button on your console for an additional eight seconds, or until you hear a second beep.
  • Wait for Safe Mode to start on your PS4 before connecting your controller with the charging cable.

When you finish these steps, your PS4 would start up normally. Wait for your console to initialize before determining if the issue has been resolved.

Solution #4: Check for overheating problems.

Your PS4 may be experiencing overheating problems if it abruptly turns off while in use and won’t turn back on. Because of dirt buildup, your PS4’s fans or vents, may not be able to properly cool your device.

Check your PS4’s air vents to make sure there is no buildup of dirt in order to verify this. It might help to blow some air into the vents.

Allowing your PS4 to cool down for a few hours is another way to determine if you are experiencing overheating issues. Check to see if your Playstation boots up successfully by turning it on after that.
